Cristina Paluselli (born October 23, 1973 in Trento ) is a former Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Paluselli took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski from 1992 to 2006 . She ran her first World Cup race in December 1993 in Santa Caterina , which she finished classically in 83rd place over 5 km. She got her first World Cup points in January 1995 in Nove Mesto with 29th place over 15 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , she achieved 34th place over 15 km classic. In 1998 she won the Toblach – Cortina classic over 35 km. In the World Cup, she mainly achieved placements in the midfield. She got her best placement in an individual race in 2004 in Val di Fiemme with seventh place in the 70 km mass start race. At the beginning of the 2001/02 season she reached her first podium finish in Davos with third place in the relay. In February 2002 she won her first and only World Cup victory with the relay in Falun . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lahti , she finished 19th over 15 km classic. With the relay she won bronze. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she came in 39th place over 10 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , she achieved 16th place in the 15 km mass start race and seventh place with the relay.

From the 2003/04 season, Paluselli competed in the Cross-Country Marathon Cup , which she won in the overall standings in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 . She won three times at the Jizera Mountains Run (2004, 2005, 2006), twice at the König-Ludwig-Run (2004 and 2005), twice at the Marcialonga (2005, 2006), once at the Birkebeinerrennet (2005), at La Sgambeda (2005) and at the Wasalauf (2006). She ended her career after the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato , where she finished 39th over 10 km classically.
