Pietro Piller Cottrer (born December 20, 1974 in Pieve di Cadore ) is a former Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Pietro Piller Cottrer took part in an FIS race for the first time at the age of eight. In 1994 he started in the World Cup for the first time. Three years later, the Italian celebrated his first World Cup victory in the 50 km race at the Holmenkollen Festival. In the same year he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf , Piller Cottrer won the gold medal over 15 km in free style . A year later at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin he won the bronze medal in the 30 km pursuit and gold in the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo , he was able to win the bronze medal in the 30 km pursuit. He ended his career in February 2013.
