Sven-Åke Lundbäck (born January 26, 1948 in Töre ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Lundbäck, who started for the Bergnäsets AIK , won the gold medal over 15 km at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo . In addition, he finished 13th over 30 km and fourth place with the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he achieved fourth place over 50 km. In March 1974 he was third in the race over 15 km at the Lahti Ski Games . The following year he won the 30 km run for the first time at the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun. His best placings at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck were 16th place over 50 km and fourth place with the relay. In the same year he won the 50 km race at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 , he won over 50 km and the gold medal with the relay. He also achieved sixth place over 15 km and 30 km. In the same year he won the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay and the overall ranking in the unofficial cross-country skiing world cup . At the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun in 1979, he won the 30 km run. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , he finished 17th over 30 km, eighth over 50 km and fifth place with the relay. The following year he won the Wasalauf . In Swedish championships he was twice over 15 km (1976, 1978), five times over 30 km (1971, 1975-1978) and three times over 50 km (1976-1978) champion. He is married to the former cross-country skier Lena Carlzon-Lundbäck .
