Ole Martin Ellefsæter (born February 15, 1939 in Furnes ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier and athlete .

Career

Ellefsæter, who started for Nybygda IL , was the Norwegian junior champion over 10 km in 1958. At the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun in 1959 , he finished second over 10 km. In 1961 he won the Birkebeinerrennet . In March 1963, he finished third in the 50 km run at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , he achieved 25th place over 15 km and eighth place over 50 km. The following year he took second place at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 50 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , he won the silver medal over 15 km and the gold medal with the relay. He also came fourth there over 50 km. In 1966 and 1967 he triumphed at the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay. In March 1967 he won the Holmenkollen Ski Festival and was awarded the Holmenkollen Medal for it. He also won the 50 km run at the Lahti Ski Games in the same year and also finished third over 15 km.

At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , Ellefsæter was Olympic champion both over the 50 km and with the Norwegian relay. Two years later he won 37th place over 50 km and 20th place over 15 km at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Štrbské Pleso . In 1971 he became the first Norwegian to win the Vasa race . At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , he finished 31st over 30 km and tenth over 50 km. In March 1972 he was third and the following year sixth at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 50 km. At Norwegian championships he won twice over 50 km (1965, 1967) and once over 15 km (1964).

Ellefsæter was also successful in athletics. From 1960 to 1965 he won the 3,000-meter obstacle course six times in a row at the Norwegian championships . For his outstanding achievements in two different sports, he received the Egebergs Ærespris in 1965 . In 1968 he was awarded the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris .
