Nikolai Serafimowitsch Baschukow ( Russian: Николай Серафимович Бажуков ; born July 23, 1953 in Troizko-Pechorsk , ASSR of the Komi , Russian SFSR , USSR ) is a former cross-country skier who started in the 1970s and early 1980s for the Soviet Union .

Career

Bashukov appeared internationally for the first time at the European Junior Championships 1973 in Kawgolowo . There he won the bronze medal over 15 km and the gold medal with the relay. At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck was Olympic champion over 15 km. He also won bronze there with the Soviet 4 × 10 kilometer relay and achieved fifth place over 30 km. In 1977 he won the Lahti Ski Games and the Svenska Skidspelen each with the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 , he was ninth over 15 km and 50 km. Two years later he won the gold medal with the relay at the 1980 Winter Olympics . He also achieved 14th place over 30 km there. At the Soviet championships Bashukov won five times with the relay (1974, 1977-1979, 1981) and twice over 15 km (1976, 1983).
