Kari Tapio Härkönen (born July 16, 1959 in Ristijärvi ) is a former Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Härkönen finished 19th over 15 km at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He ran his first World Cup race in January 1982 in Reit im Winkl and achieved 14th place over 15 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 he won bronze with the relay and came 12th over 30 km. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , he came in 13th place over 15 km. At the beginning of his last active season in 1984/85 he reached his first podium in the World Cup with second place over 15 km freestyle in Cogne . At the competitions of the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tirol , which also belonged to the World Cup, he won the gold medal over 15 km. He was also fifth over 30 km and fourth over 50 km and with the relay. He finished the season in seventh place in the overall World Cup.
