Magne Gunnbjørn Myrmo (born July 30, 1943 in Rennebu ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Myrmo won the Svenska Skidspelen over 30 km and the relay in 1969 and came third over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Vysoké Tatry , he finished 14th over 50 km and seventh over 30 km. In the same year and in 1972 he won the 15 km run at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. For this he received the Holmenkollen Medal in 1972 . At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , he won the silver medal over 50 km. He also achieved 21st place over 30 km and 19th place over 15 km. The following year he won the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay and took third place at the Lahti Ski Games over 15 km and 50 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he was world champion over the 15 km. He also won the bronze medal with the relay and took 17th place over 30 km and 11th place over 50 km. In March 1974 he triumphed over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. In the same year he won the election for Norway's Sportsman of the Year . The following year he was third over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , he came in 55th place over 15 km and 23rd place over 30 km. In his last active year, 1978, he won the Svenska Skidspelen over 30 km and also took second place in the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 , he came 23rd over 30 km. In March 1978 he took second place over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. At Norwegian championships he scored five second and eight third places. He was Norwegian champion in 1971 over 50 km and in 1972 over 15 km.
