Michael O'Hare

Michael O'Hare (born May 6, 1952 in Chicago , Illinois , † September 28, 2012 ) was an American actor .

Life

O'Hare first studied English literature at Harvard University and acting at the Juilliard School .

Between 1976 and 2000 he played small supporting roles in several films and television series. He worked mainly in New York City as a stage actor. He is best known for his role as Jeffrey Sinclair in the first season of the science fiction - television series Babylon 5 .

O'Hare died on September 28, 2012 after suffering a heart attack five days earlier and having been in a coma ever since.

J. Michael Straczynski , the creator of Babylon 5 , announced on May 25, 2013 that O'Hare had been suffering from paranoid delusions due to illness for a long time. During the filming of Babylon 5 this got worse, which is why O'Hare left the series after the first season. Straczynski had promised his friend O'Hare while filming that he would keep this a secret. After O'Hare's death and at his request, fans should learn the real reasons for his departure and thus develop awareness and understanding of mental illnesses.
