Niklas Dyrhaug (born July 6, 1987 ) is a Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Until 2011 Dyrhaug mainly took part in races of the Scandinavian Cup and FIS races . He made his World Cup debut in November 2009 in Beitostølen , which he finished with 69th place over 15 km freestyle. In February 2011, he took 20th place over 15 km in classic World Cup points for the first time. He finished the Tour de Ski 2011/2012 in 16th place. In February 2012 he won his first World Cup victory in Nove Mesto together with the relay. At the cross-country skiing world cup finals 2011/2012 in Falun , he came third. He finished the season in 16th place in the overall World Cup. In the overall ranking at the Scandinavian Cup he was fifth. He finished second in Vuokatti over 15 km freestyle and won over 3.75 km. At the beginning of April 2012 he won the 28 km classic at the Flyktningerennet. In the 2012/13 season he mostly only achieved placements in the midfield. The 13th place was his best result of the season. He finished the Tour de Ski 2013/2014 in 16th place. In April 2014 he won the Flyktningerennet classic over 40 km. In the first race of the 2014/15 season in Ruka , he finished fourth over 15 km classic. At the following Nordic Opening he came in ninth place. He finished the Tour de Ski 2015 in seventh place overall. In January 2015 he won silver in the skiathlon at the Norwegian championship. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 2015 , he achieved 13th place in the 50 km classic mass start race and seventh place in the skiathlon. He won gold with the season. He finished the season in seventh place in the overall World Cup and sixth place in the distance ranking. After finishing fifth at the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he finished second in Lillehammer and won the relay the next day. In the Tour de Ski in 2016 he was eighth. He came in second place in the 15 km mass start race in the Fiemme Valley . In February 2016 he achieved a top ten position four times in a row, including a second place in Oslo in the 50 km mass start race. His best placement at the Ski Tour Canada , which he finished prematurely, was eighth in the pursuit race in Québec and at the end of the season he reached sixth place in the overall World Cup and third place in the Distance World Cup. In the 2016/17 season he finished 12th in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer and tenth place in the Tour de Ski 2016/17 . In December 2016 in Lillehammer, he clinched his second victory in the Scandinavian Cup in the 30 km mass start race. In February 2017 he finished second in the skiathlon at the Norwegian Championships in Lygna . At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he won the bronze medal over 15 km classic and the gold medal with the relay. At the end of the season, he took third place in the World Cup final in Québec . He came in second place at the mass start stage over 15 km and reached eighth place in the overall World Cup and fifth place in the Distance World Cup.

In the 2017/18 season, Dyrhaug took 12th place at the Tour de Ski 2017/18 and ninth place at the World Cup final in Falun . At the highlight of the season, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he came in 13th in the 50 km mass start race.
