Ben Blushi

Ben Kiço Blushi (born January 1, 1969 in Tirana ) is an Albanian politician ( PS ), publicist and writer .

Life

Ben Blushi is the son of Kiço Blushi (* 1946), a famous Albanian director and screenwriter. He studied Albanian language and literature at the Faculty of History and Philology of the University of Tirana . He then devoted himself first to journalism when he worked for the newspaper Koha Jonë between 1991 and 1997 . At the same time he was an independent journalist for Deutsche Welle . He also worked for the Soros Foundation in Albania .

In 1997 he was brought into the new government cabinet by the then newly elected Prime Minister Fatos Nano ( PS ), where he worked as deputy advisor to the Prime Minister until 1999. At that time, Albania had just finished the lottery uprising and the state was not yet in control of the whole country. 1998 Nano was replaced by Pandeli Majko in office, but Blushi remained in office. In 1999 Ilir Meta followed as Prime Minister. This appointed Blushi as deputy foreign minister . He only held this office for one year. In 2001 he was Prefect of Korça Qark . He was then appointed Minister of Education and Science in 2001 during a government reshuffle. When Fatos Nano became Prime Minister again in 2002, Blushi became Minister for Local Government and Decentralization. He stayed in this post until 2005, when the Socialist Party of Albania lost to the Democrats in the parliamentary elections .

In 2008 Blushi published his first literary work, Të Jetosh Në Ishull ("Living on an Island"). Thanks to the broad media support and advertising, 30,000 copies were sold within a few months, which is a great success for Albanian standards. The novel offers the reader a panoramic view of an area of ​​the history of Albania at the time of the Ottoman Empire with a thoroughly controversial treatment of the Islamization of the country. In relation to history , Fatos Lubonja called Blushi's book a “strong national-romantic anachronism”. The fact that the conversion of the Albanians to Islam is described as a "forced misfortune" by one of the main characters in the book and the general negative coloring of the book in relation to Islam makes Lubonja Blushi appear as a "rather ignorant and rather unrealistic author".

In his book Hena e Shqipërisë (Crescent Albania), which was published in 2014, claims Blushi that the Albanian police to ten percent of supporters of the Hizmet Movement ( Gjylenxhi , pronounced like "Gülenci" Turkish for Gülenisten ) of Fethullah Gülen would be .

His book Candidati (The Candidate) , published in 2015, about today's political and media landscape, was also a great success on the Albanian market.

Blushi has been a member of the Albanian parliament since 2001 . Blushi has been a member of the Albanian Socialist Party Executive Committee since 2011. In 2016 he founded the Libra party .
