Tema (or Gazeta Tema ) is a daily newspaper that has been published in Albania since 2000 . The editor-in-chief is Mero Baze . Around 5,000 copies are printed every day. Tema is a government-critical newspaper that has been on the Internet since 2007.

Suppression by the Berisha government

In 2009 the publication and continued existence of the newspaper was massively prevented by the Albanian government. Editor-in-chief Mero Baze's car was set on fire at the end of December 2008, advertisers were warned of further advertisements and the editorial building was surrounded by armed police for a few days. The government cited a lease for the editorial center in Tirana that expired in 2009 as the reason for the police presence , which the newspaper must respect.
