Juri Georgijewitsch Skobow ( Russian Юрий Георгиевич Скобов; born March 13, 1949 in Klimowo ) is a former Russian cross-country skier who started for the Soviet Union in the 1970s .

Career

Skobow had his first international success at the European Junior Championships in 1968 in Morez . There he won the gold medal over 15 km. In the following he repeated this in Bollnäs and also won gold with the relay. At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , he won the gold medal with the relay. He also achieved 15th place over 30 km and fifth place over 15 km. In March 1972 he was fourth at the Lahti Ski Games over 15 km. The following year he came in third place with the relay at the Svenska Skidspelen . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he won the silver medal with the relay and in 1975 won the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay. At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , he finished 16th over 15 km. At Soviet championships he won twice over 15 km (1972, 1973) and once over 30 km (1972) and with the relay (1974).
