Odd Martinsen (born December 20, 1942 in Drammen ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier . He is the father of Bente Skari .

Career

Martinsen won in 1962 at the Svenska Skidspelen in the junior race over 10 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , he won the bronze medal over 15 km and the gold medal with the relay. In March 1967 he was third over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . From 1967 to 1969 he won three times in a row at the Svenska Skidspelen with the relay. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , he won the silver medal over 30 km and, as a starting runner, was Olympic champion with the relay. He also achieved 18th place over 50 km and eighth place over 15 km. In 1969 he won the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 15 km and received the Holmenkollen Medal for it . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Vysoké Tatry , he won the bronze medal over 30 km and the silver medal over 15 km. With the season he came in fourth place. Four years later he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun . He also achieved 33rd place over 15 km there. In February 1976 he was able to take second place again at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and thus win the silver medal. In the individual races he was ninth over 30 km and eighth over 15 km. His last international appearance was at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 . There he came in 27th place over 15 km. At Norwegian championships he won seven times with the relay of IL i BUL (1970, 1972-1976, 1978), twice over 15 km (1966, 1970) and twice over 30 km (1969, 1971). At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , he was race director of cross-country skiing competitions.
