Lars Håland (* 28. July 1962 in Stockholm ; anglicised also Lars Haaland ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Håland, who started for the Dala-Järna IK and the Svenska Skidspelens SK , made his debut in La Bresse in January 1986 in the cross-country skiing world cup and finished 12th over 30 km classic. The following year he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup with eighth place in the 30 km freestyle in Falun . In the 1988/89 season he came in the top ten four times in the World Cup. He won his only individual victory in the World Cup in Falun over 30 km freestyle. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1989 in Lahti , he won the silver medal over 15 km freestyle and the gold medal with the relay. He was also seventh over 15 km classic and fourth over 50 km freestyle. He finished the season in sixth place in the overall World Cup. In the following season he reached three top ten placements in the World Cup, including third place in the pursuit race in Lahti and thus achieved tenth place in the overall World Cup. In the 1990/91 season, 11th place over 30 km classic in Les Saisies was his best season position. His best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 were 13th place over 50 km freestyle and sixth place with the relay. In the following years he mostly achieved placements outside the top ten in the World Cup. His best individual result was fifth place in January 1997 over 30 km classic in Lahti and in November 1997 over 10 km classic in Beitostølen . In February 1995, he finished third with the relay in Falun. He ran his last World Cup race in March 1998 in Falun, which he finished in 56th place in the 10 km freestyle. In 1997 he won the Swedish championships over 50 km. With the season of Dala-Järna IK he became Swedish champion in 1989 and 1990.
