Väinö Liikkanen (born November 16, 1903 in Virolahti , † October 15, 1957 in Kuusankoski ) was a Finnish cross-country skier .

Liikkanen, who was a forester by profession and started for the Virolahden Sampo, was one of the world's best cross-country skiers in the 1930s. The first races with international participation he ran at the 1929 World Ski Championships in Zakopane , where he was fourth over 50 km. At the World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1930, he was classified eighth over 18 km and ninth over 50 km. Liikkanen qualified for the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , where he won the silver medal in the 50 km run. He also achieved ninth place over 18 km there.

In 1933 Liikkanen won his only Finnish championship title over 50 km. At the World Ski Championships in Innsbruck in 1933 , he won the bronze medal in the 18 km run and came fourth over 50 km. He celebrated his greatest success at the end of his career when he won the World Ski Championships in 1935 in Vysoké Tatry with the Finnish 4x10 km relay.
