Nikolai Petrovich Anikin ( Russian: Николай Петрович Аникин; born January 25, 1932 in Ischim ; † November 14, 2009 in Duluth , Minnesota , USA ) was a Russian cross-country skier who started for the Soviet Union in the late 1950s and early 1960s .

Career

Anikin won the relay gold medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo . He was also seventh there over 15 km. In 1957 he became the Soviet master with the relay and received the Soviet Badge of Honor for his services . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 , he won the silver medal with the relay. In the individual races he finished 16th over 50 km, 14th place over 30 km and ninth place over 15 km. In March 1958 he was seventh over 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . Two years later he won the bronze medal over 30 km and with the relay at the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley . He also achieved 13th place over 50 km and tenth place over 15 km. The following year he came second at the Lahti Ski Games over 50 km.
