The 2003/04 Süper Lig was the 46th season of the top Turkish league in men's football . It started on August 8, 2003 with the game Samsunspor against Beşiktaş Istanbul and ended on May 15, 2004 with the 34th matchday. From December 22, 2003 to January 22, 2004 the season was interrupted by the winter break.
Champion Fenerbahce . This secured the blue and yellow the 15th championship in the club's history. The team from the Black Sea , Trabzonspor, was runner-up . Bursaspor , Adanaspor and Elazığspor had to relegate .
The champions' two rivals, Beşiktaş Istanbul and Galatasaray Istanbul, were dissatisfied with their results after the season. Beşiktaş finished third behind Trabzonspor and qualified for the UEFA Cup . Galatasaray played their worst season in many years. Galatasaray's legendary coach Fatih Terim and his team finished sixth, which was unsatisfactory for the fans and the Red-Yellow board . This meant that Galatasaray could not participate in international football in the coming season. Terim resigned and was replaced by Gheorghe Hagi , who succeeded Terim three years after retiring as a footballer.
Attendees
For the 2003/04 Süper Lig, the 15 clubs left from the previous season were joined by the three promoted teams from the last second division season . The climbers were the first to third place in the 2nd division Konyaspor , Çaykur Rizespor and Akçaabat Sebatspor . While Konyaspor returned after ten years, Çaykur Rizespor managed to rise again immediately. For Akçaabat Sebatspor it was the first first division participation in their club history.
