Ali Mehmet Güneş (born November 23, 1978 in Donaueschingen ) is a Turkish soccer player born in Germany .
Career
Güneş, who grew up in Bräunlingen , came to SC Freiburg in 1996 , having previously played in the youth departments of TuS Bräunlingen, FV Donaueschingen and FC 08 Villingen . For the 1997/98 season, the midfielder moved up to the professional squad of Freiburg and developed in the following season 1998/99 to the regular player with 32 missions (4 goals). In the following season Güneş lost his regular place after the 10th game day. After only two more missions in the second half of the 1999/2000 season, the then Turkish junior international left the SCF and moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul .
With Fener he won the Turkish championship in both 2001 and 2004. In 2004 he moved to league rivals Beşiktaş Istanbul , with whom he won the Turkish Cup in 2006 , on a free transfer . Ali Güneş moved back to SC Freiburg on a free transfer for the 2007/08 season. On June 15, 2009, the contract, which ran until 2010, was terminated by mutual agreement. In the 2009/10 season Güneş played for Kasımpaşa Istanbul . At the end of August 2010, he was presented as a reinforcement at Süperlig- climber Bucaspor , but dissolved his contract there after two league appearances in December 2010.
After the end of his professional career, he still plays in the regional league for his former youth club FV Donaueschingen. From 2014 to 2019 Güneş played for FC 08 Villingen in the major and association leagues. In July 2019, the national league club FC 07 Furtwangen signed him for the first half of the 2019/20 season.
For the Turkish national team , Güneş had his only international appearance in May 2004 in a friendly against Australia (final score 3: 1). He was nominated four times for the Turkish national team. With the U-21 national team , he took part in the U-21 European Championship in 2000 .
