Gökdeniz Karadeniz (born January 11, 1980 in Giresun ) is a former Turkish soccer player who was most recently under contract with Rubin Kazan .
Career
In the club
Gökdeniz Karadeniz has played for Trabzonspor since his first year as a professional in 2001. As a midfielder, he often plays across the wings and also in a central position. Karadeniz won the Turkish Cup twice with Trabzonspor (2003, 2004). On March 11, 2008 it was announced that Gökdeniz Karadeniz and the Russian club Rubin Kazan had agreed on a transfer. The transfer fee was 8.7 million euros. There he received a five-year contract until 2012. In his first season at Rubin Kazan, the team became Russian champions, in which he was involved with six goals and six assists. As a result, you played in the UEFA Champions League . In the national team
Gökdeniz Karadeniz has played for Turkey since 2002 . He took part in the 2003 Confederations Cup in France and in the EURO 2008 in Switzerland and Austria. The team came third in the Confederation Cup and reached the semi-finals at EURO 2008. He was not nominated for the qualifying games for the 2010 World Cup. After the failure of Turkey, the then coach Fatih Terim was criticized, among other things, for not nominating Gökdeniz. Even after his resignation, he was no longer nominated. He played his last game for the Turkish national team on June 25, 2008 in the European Championship semi-finals against Germany, when he was substituted on in the 84th minute.
Betting scandal
In 2005 Gökdeniz was suspended for six months for participating in illegal football betting. The disciplinary committee of the Turkish Football Association ( TFF ) also imposed a fine of around 37,500 euros .
