Selçuk Şahin (born January 31, 1981 in Tunceli ) is a Turkish football player .
Career
In the club
Şahin worked as a waiter before he became a professional footballer. In 1999 he signed his first professional contract with the second division club Hatayspor . After seven appearances in his first season, he became a regular in 2000/01 and scored three goals in 33 games. In 2001 he moved to Istanbulspor, where he started 31 times in the 2001/02 season. In the following season he played 32 missions from the start. 2003/04 Selçuk hired at Fenerbahçe Istanbul , completed 25 league games, scored one goal and won the Turkish championship with the team. In the 2004/05 season you could defend the title.
With the end of his contract in the summer of 2015, he received no contract extension from Fenerbahçe and then left this club after 15 years of service.
For the 2015/16 season, Şahin left Fenerbahçe after twelve years and moved to the Swiss club FC Wil .
In the spring of 2016, he returned to Turkey and joined the first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . After one and a half seasons with the capital city, he moved on to the new first division club Göztepe Izmir in the summer of 2017 . His contract with Göztepe was not renewed and Şahin returned to Gençlerbirliği Ankara after one season. With this club he became runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig at the end of the season and thus managed to return to the Süper Lig . After a failed contract extension, he signed on for the new season at the second division side Bursaspor .
In the national team
After strong performances at İstanbulspor , he became a regular in the Turkish U21 national team , for which he completed 19 appearances and scored two goals. At the FIFA Confederations Cup , he played for the senior team and took third place with them.
