Çağatay Yılmaz (born January 1, 2000 in İnegöl ) is a Turkish football player on the position of a striker . In 2018 he made his debut for the professional team of Bursaspor in the Süper Lig .

Club career

Çağatay Yılmaz was born on January 1, 2000 in the western Turkish city of İnegöl. In 2011 at the latest, he joined the youth of his home club İnegölspor and was active in it up to and including 2013. In the same year he joined the youth of the Turkish first division club Bursaspor and completed the 2013/14 season for the U-14 team, scoring ten goals in 21 league games. In 2014/15 he was promoted to the U-15 academy team and again acted as extremely dangerous; 23 missions faced twelve hits. Especially in the beginning Yılmaz was an outstanding goalscorer and was able to record ten goals after seven league games; including all five goals in a 5-0 home win over the youngsters of the same age from Eyüpspor . In the following season 2015/16 he was already a member of the U-16 squad and scored 14 goals in 27 championship games for them. Furthermore, he brought it to a goalless use for him personally in the U-17 elite league for the U-17 team from Bursaspor. He then scored 18 goals in 33 league games for the U-17 team in the 2016/17 season.

However, his most successful season to date was 2017/18, when he scored 29 goals in 32 games in the U-19 elite league, scored one goal in his three U-21 appearances, participated in the 2017/18 UEFA Youth League and made his professional debut. Even before that, the captain of several youth teams in Bursaspor signed his first professional contract on March 26, 2018 together with his teammates İsmail Çokçalış and Burak Kapacak , with whom he also made his professional debut around two months later. After sitting on the bench in the 33rd round against Trabzonspor on May 13, 2018 , he made his professional debut on May 18, 2018 in the game of the 34th and final round of the 2017/18 Süper Lig when he played the 0-1 away defeat against Gençlerbirliği Ankara in the 72nd minute of the game by coach Mustafa Er came on for Emre Taşdemir . In the game he was one of several debutants in the Bursaspor squad.

National team career

On January 30, 2015, Yılmaz made his debut in a friendly U-15 international match between Turkey and the Czech Republic and only two days later he played in another encounter against the Czechs. A few days later, he was used in a four-nation tournament against his colleagues from Austria, Serbia and the Netherlands. Then about 15 months passed before the young offensive player was used again in a Turkish national team. On May 7, 2016, Yılmaz made his debut in the so-called UEFA Development Cup for Turkey's U-16s when he came on as a substitute in the 41st minute in the 4-2 win over Portugal . This was his only international appearance in the U-16 squad. About a year and a half later, he made his debut in the U-18 national team ; in the 2-1 win over Macedonia , he scored the goal in the 79th minute to lead his team 2-0 and was used two days later in another encounter with Macedonia.
