Cecilia Roth (* 8. August 1958 in Buenos Aires as Cecilia Edith Rotenberg ) is an Argentine actress .

Life

She moved to Spain with her father and brother in 1976 , where she started an acting career. Initially, she had minor appearances in Argentine film productions, followed by supporting roles in Spanish films, until 1979 she was offered a leading role in Iván Zulueta's Arrebato for the first time . Then she began her film work with the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar , who gave her roles several times and made her internationally known with the Oscar- winning film Everything About My Mother from 1999 at the latest . She won the Goya for “Best Actress” for her performance in this film . She had already received this award in 1998 for her portrayal in Adolfo Aristarain's Martín (Hache) .

She then worked with other well-known Spanish filmmakers. For example, she acted as Coca in El Señor Galíndez alongside Antonio Banderas under the direction of Rodolfo Kuhn . In the 1980s, after the military regime was overthrown there, the actress returned to Argentina and, in addition to her work for film and television, also worked for the stage. She works mainly in Spain and Latin America.
