action

The 19-year-old Hache has no life plan. He still lives with his mother in Buenos Aires and plays in a band for fun. After his girlfriend abandons him, he accidentally overdoses an intoxicant and collapses while performing on stage. His relatives suspect a suicide attempt and decide that Hache should initially live with his father Martín Echenique, who lives separately from Hache's mother as a director in Madrid and has not seen the son for five years. He is not happy to have to take in the son. The father's emotional coldness makes effective communication with the son impossible and also strains the relationship with his lover Alicia. Martin accuses the son of not developing any future prospects and of remaining inactive. Martín is set to direct a major movie project in which his friend Dante is slated to star. To this end, he visits potential filming locations with Alicia and asks the bisexual actor Dante, who is experienced in dealing with drugs, to supervise Hache. Under Dante's supervision, Hache had his first drug experience, although the actor tried to stop him. During a stage appearance, Dante scandalously breaks off the current performance by insulting the audience and leaving the theater. Dante takes Hache to see Martín and Alicia and tries to mediate between father and son. In the presence of Hache and Dante, Martín humiliates Alicia with condescending answers. She then overdoses sleeping pills and drowns in the swimming pool. Martín learns that the producers refuse to cast Dante in the lead role because of the theater scandal. Thereupon Martín refuses to participate in the film. Hache leaves his father and leaves him a video tape on which he says goodbye and declares that he has no plans for the future and that he wants to return to Buenos Aires.
