Leo van der Kleij

Leo van der Kleij (* 1954 in Voorburg , Province of South Holland ) is a Dutch photographer.

life and work

Leo van der Kleij graduated from the Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn in 1982. He has been a freelance photographer since 1985 and taught at Delft University of Technology from 1995 to 1999 . Leo van der Kleij has worked repeatedly with Tadashi Kawamata since 1986 , whose work he accompanies photographically. In 2003 the exhibition "Tadashi Kawamata / Leo van der Kleij" took place in Moyland Castle .

The photo projects Tokyo daily life 2003 and Kitakyushu daily life 2006 made trips to Tokyo possible. Since 1977 van der Kleij has been photographing mining areas in Western Europe and Japan. He exhibited the Coal Mine Walking project at Coalface in Genk and at the Vlaams Mijnmuseum in Beringen .

Leo van der Kleij is a member of GKf, SVFN and the German Werkbund . He is co-founder of the Stichting Hollands Negatief with Guus Rijven and Flip Bool and the Argos fotoburo Den Haag with Marcel Terlouw.
