Vladimir Petrovich Voronkow ( Russian Владимир Петрович Воронков ; born March 20, 1944 in the Komsolmolski district, Chuvash ASSR ; † September 25, 2018 ) was a Soviet cross-country skier .

Career

Voronkow took third place with the relay at the Svenska Skidspelen 1967 in Falun . At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , he came in 22nd place over 15 km, 16th over 50 km and fourth place over 30 km and with the relay. The following year he finished second in the 50 km run at the Lahti Ski Games . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Vysoké Tatry , he won the gold medal with the relay. In March 1971 he won the Lahti Ski Games over 15 km. At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , he won the gold medal with the relay like two years earlier. He also achieved 12th place over 15 km there. In the same year he triumphed at the Svenska Skidspelen in Lycksele with the relay. At Soviet championships he won twice over 15 km (1970, 1971) and once with the relay (1968), over 50 km (1970) and over 70 km (1971).
