Michail Talgatowitsch Dewjatjarow ( Russian Михаил Талгатович Девятьяров ) (born February 25, 1959 in Tschussowoi ) is a former Russian cross-country skier who started for the Soviet Union .

Career

Dewjatjarow appeared internationally for the first time at the Winter Universiade 1981 in Candanchú . There he won bronze over 15 km. He ran his first World Cup race in January 1982 in Brusson and finished 16th over 30 km. The following year he came on the podium in Sarajevo with third place over 15 km for the first time in the World Cup and won the gold medal at the Winter Universiade in Vitoscha over 15 km and 30 km respectively. In March 1984 he won his first World Cup victory in Murmansk over 15 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , he won bronze over 15 km classic and silver with the relay. At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , he was Olympic champion over 15 km in classic style. This was also his second World Cup victory. He also won the silver medal with the relay and finished 25th over 50 km and fourth over 30 km. In the overall World Cup he achieved his best overall result in the 1987/88 season with 13th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , he achieved 14th place over 30 km classic. He ran his last World Cup race in January 1992 in Kavgolovo , which he finished classically in 21st place over 30 km.

His son Michail Michailowitsch Dewjatjarow (* 1985) is also a cross-country skier.
