Soldier Hollow

Soldier Hollow is a Nordic winter sports area in the US state of Utah . It is located near the town of Midway in Wasatch Mountain State Park . In addition to numerous cross-country trails of varying degrees of difficulty, Soldier Hollow also has a shooting range for biathlon .

During the 2002 Winter Olympics , the cross-country and biathlon competitions and Nordic combined cross-country skiing were held in Soldier Hollow . Some athletes had problems with the unusual altitude of 1700 to 1800 m.

Soldier Hollow's sports facilities are currently used for tourism and for various competitions such as the US National Cross Country Championships. Today the building is used by cross-country skiers as a school with a focus on cross-country skiing and biathlon.

In 2017, for the first time since the 2002 Olympics, an international winter sports event took place in Soldier Hollow with the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships . In February 2019, as part of the 2018/19 Biathlon World Cup , races in the highest category of a sport were held in the resort.
