history

In 1970 the first biathlon world championship took place in the ski stadium . In 1993, around 12 million crowns were used to prepare the Östersund ski stadium for major international competitions such as the World Cup, which took place here for the first time that same year. Among other things, snow cannons , a cooling tower, bridges, wax cabins, a secretariat, scoreboard and, in 1996, a doping examination room were added.

Before the 2008 World Cup, a new grandstand for 4,000 spectators and lighting for evening races were installed. From 2008 to 2011 additional seats for 2,000 spectators and twenty new wax cabins were added.

In March 2019, World Championships took place in the stadium for the third time.
