Lago di Tesero (officially Stadio del fondo di Lago di Tesero ) is a cross-country skiing center in the south of the Italian municipality of Tesero in the Fiemme Valley . It belongs to the "Scuola Italiana Sci Lago di Tesero", the Italian training school of the ski association.

Sports facilities

In winter, Lago di Tesero comprises a total of 18 kilometers of groomed trails. In the start and finish area of the cross-country ski trails there are facilities for biathlon, roller skiing and figure skating. The grandstands on the cross-country ski run offer space for 50,000 spectators.

history

The first trails were created in the 1960s. In the 1980s it was planned to set up a cross-country skiing center because the association was considering an application for the Nordic World Ski Championships . It is operated annually from December to mid-March, but can also be extended beyond this thanks to the extensive artificial snowmaking system using eight snow cannons and six snowmaking giraffes. The ski center is part of the Marcialonga route once a year . In addition, races are held on the trails as part of the cross-country skiing world cup . After an extensive renovation of the center from 2010 to 2012, 7.5 km of the trails in Lago di Tesero were again the venue for the cross-country skiing competitions at the Nordic World Ski Championships . Before that, in 1991 and 2003, two world championships were held in Lago di Tesero. In addition, national championships and trophies are held regularly on the trails in winter.

In 2018, Tesero was selected by the National Olympic Committee of Italy as the venue for the cross-country skiing competitions for Milan's Olympic candidacy and Cortina d'Ampezzos for the 2026 Winter Olympics .
