Anne Jahre (born June 20, 1963 in Bærum ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Years ago he started internationally for the first time at the Junior World Championships in 1981 and surprised the competition with victory over 5 km and with the relay. Years had previously not been able to celebrate successes at national or international level.

On January 15, 1982, Jahre made her debut in the cross-country skiing world cup . As fifth, she immediately achieved a very good result over 5 km in La Bresse . At the Junior World Championship in 1982, she again won the title with the relay, but clearly missed the defense of her individual title. Over 5 km she was only eighth. At the following Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 she was part of the team as a substitute, but was not used.

At the Norwegian Championships in 1983 , she secured her first national title over 10 km. Before that, she was already a permanent member of the World Cup squad and secured her first podium place as second in Stachy . She was also on the podium in Sarajevo and Kavgolovo . Until the end of the season, she failed only in Lahti on the points. She finished the season in fifth place in the overall World Cup standings.

The following season, 1983/84 , was her most successful year in her career. She once again reached the podium in third place in Anchorage and Autrans . At the following Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984 , she won bronze over 20 km in the classic style. She also secured the gold medal in the relay race together with Inger Helene Nybråten , Brit Pettersen and Berit Aunli-Kvello . The Norwegian Post later dedicated a stamp to this success showing all four cross-country skiers. In the two other individual disciplines over 5 and 10 km, Jahre ended up in fifth and seventh place. After further good World Cup results, Jahre finished the season in 3rd place in the overall World Cup ranking.

At the Norwegian Cross Country Championships in 1984, Jahre was also successful in the summer for the first time and won the silver medal. In the winter, the following season 1984/85 was less successful. In the overall ranking she only reached 11th place. At the 1985 Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol , she won the silver medal in the relay.

The 1985/86 World Cup season went better . In her first race in Bibawik, she just barely missed the podium as fourth. On February 22, 1986, she achieved the first World Cup victory in her career in Kavgolovo. At the following Norwegian championships in 1986 in Vang he won the silver medal over 5 and 10 km. Even with the relay, she narrowly missed victory and also took silver.

The 1986/87 season did not start until the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf . Years over 10 km was the first to cross the finish line there, thus securing her first and only individual world championship title and, at the same time, her second World Cup victory. Also at the following Norwegian Championships in 1987 in Steinkjer , she convinced with good performances and secured herself in addition to the individual title over 10 km and the relay.

At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , Canada , she just missed another individual medal as fourth over 5 km. Over 10 km she finished 16th. With the season she finished second and won silver. In January 1989 he was on the podium again as third at the World Cup in Klingenthal . At the following Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , she finished fifth in the individual over 15 km before winning bronze in the 4x5 km relay together with Inger Helene Nybråten, Nina Skeime and Marianne Dahlmo behind the teams from Finland and the Soviet Union.

After a rather weak 1989/90 season , he retired from the World Cup and only contested a few long-distance races. So she won the 1992 Birkebeinerrennet .

Later she settled in Oslo for years where she worked as a physiotherapist . She also gives ski courses as a trainer.
