Evi Sachsenbacher-Stehle (born November 27, 1980 in Traunstein as Evi Sachsenbacher) is a former German cross-country skier and biathlete . She was a member of the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in the Jägerkaserne in Bischofswiesen , most recently she held the rank of chief sergeant .

Career

Cross-country skiing

She made her first appearance in the cross-country world cup in 1998 in the sprint in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where she finished 14th. At the 1999 Junior World Championships in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer , Austria , she won the silver medal in the German 4x5 kilometer relay and came third over 15 kilometers. In the individual race over five kilometers, she just missed the medal race in fourth. At the 1999 World Championships in Ramsau , she won the bronze medal with the relay. At the Junior World Championships in 2000 in Štrbské Pleso , Slovakia , she was junior world champion over 15 kilometers and won the bronze medal over five kilometers. With the German season she was fourth this time. Her first World Cup podium was also her first World Cup victory, which she achieved in 2001 in the sprint in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she won the gold medal with the relay and the silver medal in the sprint. For this, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Johannes Rau on May 6, 2002 . Sachsenbacher achieved her second World Cup victory in November 2002 in Kiruna, Sweden, in the 5 kilometer freestyle race. After gold in the relay and silver in the pursuit at the 2003 World Cup in Fiemme Valley , two weaker years followed. Sachbacher managed the turning point with the privately financed cross-country trainer Wolfgang Pichler , who brought her back to the top of the world.

In the compulsory blood test in the run-up to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Sachsenbacher-Stehle found an increased hemoglobin value of 16.4 g / dl (some sources also write 16.3 g / dl), but only a value of 16.4 g / dl is allowed for women maximum 16.0 g / dl. The International Ski Federation (FIS) then imposed a five-day protective ban . As a result, Sachsenbacher-Stehle missed the 15 km hunting race. The German Ski Association filed a lawsuit against the ban at the International Sports Court (CAS), which rejected the lawsuit. After another test, the hemoglobin value was again below the limit value, so that she was allowed to participate in the 2006 Olympic Games again. There she won the silver medal in the women's 4x5 km relay on February 18, 2006.

After the Olympic Games, Schadenbacher-Stehle showed excellent form. So she could win the pursuit race in Falun and take third place in the traditional 30 km race on Holmenkollen . In the overall World Cup she finally came fourth as the best German and finally won the title at the cross-country DM in Balderschwang with the Bavarian relay team.

At the premiere of the Tour de Ski in 2007 ,achenbacher-Stehle finished eighth overall, and she achieved the same overall rank in 2008 . At the 2007 World Championships , Sachsenbacher-Stehle won silver in the team sprint with Claudia Nystad and silver in the 4x5 km relay with the German team. At the 2009 World Cup , Sachsenbacher-Stehle won the silver medal with the German team.

At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver , Sachsenbacher-Stehle was Olympic champion in the team sprint together with Claudia Nystad and won silver in the relay together with Katrin Zeller , Miriam Gössner and Claudia Nystad. The post-Olympic season 2010/11 was not successful for Sachsenbacher-Stehle, as the best place she achieved a ninth place in the pursuit of Rybinsk with only 10 participations in World Cup races . As a reason for this ,ssenbacher-Stehle gives various food intolerances . At the FIS Cross-Country World Cup 2011/12 they did not participate. Instead, there were sporadic starts at the Alpencup . She achieved podium positions with second place in Arvieux and third place in Zwiesel .

biathlon

Entry and first World Cup successes

In March 2012, Evi Sachsenbacher-Stehle announced that it would be preparing for the 2012/13 winter season with the biathletes in order to provide new training stimuli. On May 16, 2012, she announced that she would start in biathlon from the 2012/13 season . She finished her first official competition on September 14, 2012 on roller skis in the Bavarian mixed relay, together with Florian Graf and Michael Greis in the German championship. In her very first official competition ,ssenbacher-Stehle secured her first German championship title in biathlon .

On November 24, 2012 Evi Sachsenbacher-Stehle made her debut in the IBU Cup at the sprint in Idre, Sweden , in 24th place. In her first individual competition in this racing series on November 30, 2012 she finished 23rd in Beitostølen, Norway . On January 6, 2013, she achieved her first podium finish in the new sport at the fourth IBU Cup in Otepää, Estonia with a second place in the sprint behind Jekaterina Jurjewa .

Due to their performances in the first four races in the IBU Cup, Sachsenbacher-Stehle qualified for the Biathlon World Cup. Here she started for the first time in the Pokljuka sprint on December 14th, 2012 and finished in 59th place, which also enabled her to qualify for the subsequent pursuit , in which she reached 48th place. After a long break in the World Cup, she reached the points in Oslo for the first time and ran on March 9, 2013 in the sprint on the future Olympic track in Sochi to sixth place, her best result so far. One day later she celebrated her first victory in the biathlon world cup on her first relay mission. She won together with Andrea Henkel , Miriam Gössner and Laura Dahlmeier .

Olympic Winter Games 2014 and positive methylhexanamine result

At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi ,ssenbacher-Stehle took eleventh place in the sprint and fell back to 27th place in the subsequent pursuit on February 11th. On the same day she had to go to the doping control, which was without result. In the individual Olympic race in Sochi, she finished 20th with three penalty minutes. Although she scored 20 times in a biathlon race for the first time in the mass start on February 17, 2014 and therefore did not have to complete a penalty loop, after the three medal winners Darja Domratschawa , Gabriela , was taken byachenbacher-Stehle Soukalová and Tiril Eckhoff , who were able to compensate their shooting mistakes with a higher mileage, ended up fourth. In the doping test taken immediately after this race, traces of methylhexanamine were found in her urine . The German Olympic Sports Confederation excluded Sachbacher-Stehle from the German Olympic team on February 21, 2014 due to the positive doping test. On the same day ,achenbacher-Stehle's fourth place in the mass start and the fourth place she subsequently achieved in the German mixed relay was revoked by the Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee . Sachbacher-Stehle stated that she unconsciously ingested the substance through a dietary supplement that she received from a private nutritionist.

The International Biathlon Union blocked Sachbacher-Stehle on July 16, 2014 for a period of two years, which began retrospectively on February 17, 2014. Achenbacher-Stehle, however, appealed to the International Sports Court , which reduced the ban on November 14, 2014 to six months. On November 30, 2014, she announced her retirement from active competitive sports. After the long break, she sees herself no longer able to meet her own requirements: "Three months of training are missing, the last few months have cost me a lot of strength, and people have not always treated me well."

Private life

Evi Sachsenbacher married the alpine ski racer Johannes Stehle on July 2nd, 2005 and since then has had the double name Sachsenbacher-Stehle. She is studying nutritional science. She has two children.

Sachsenbacher-Stehle took second place in the second season of the competition show Eternal Heroes, which was broadcast from February 14 to April 4, 2017 .

Sachbacher-Stehle took part in a celebrity special on the cooking show The Taste in September 2017 , where she took first place.

In the winter special from Ewige Helden , which was broadcast in December 2018, Sachsenbacher-Stehle took first place ahead of Jennifer Oeser and Philipp Boy .

In 2019 she was seen in the celebrity edition of The Big Baking and took first place.
