Medvedeva-Arbusowa started in January 1997 for the first time in the World Cup in Kavgolovo and finished there in 42nd place over 15 km freestyle. She got her first World Cup points in November 2000 in Beitostølen with 17th place over 10 km freestyle. At the Winter Universiade 2001 in Zakopane she won bronze medal in the 15 km freestyle. In January 2002 at the World Cup in Nové Město she came sixth in the 5 km freestyle for the first time under the top ten and the day after won her first World Cup victory in the team sprint with Julija Tschepalowa . In the 2002/03 season she achieved two top ten positions in the individual World Cup and at the end of the season she was 32nd in the overall World Cup. At the World Cup in Davos , she was second in the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Fiemme Valley , she achieved 27th place in the 30 km freestyle and 22nd place in the skiathlon . After four placements in the points at the beginning of the 2004/05 season , she won in Lago di Tesero with the relay and took third place in the 15 km mass start race in Ramsau am Dachstein . In February 2005 she won her only individual victory in the World Cup in the 10 km freestyle in Reit im Winkl . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 , she won the silver medal with the relay. In addition, she was tenth over 10 km freestyle. At the end of the season she achieved third place with the relay in Falun and reached 17th place in the overall World Cup and 11th place in the Distance World Cup. In the 2005/06 season she came in the points five times in the World Cup, including three times in the top ten. At the highlight of the season, the 2006 Winter Olympics , she won the bronze medal in the skiathlon race over 15 kilometers in Pragelato and won gold with the relay. She also finished 21st in the 30 km mass start race. She finished the season in 26th place in the Distance World Cup. In the following season, she achieved 34th place in the Tour de Ski 2006/07 and 20th place in the World Cup. Her best placement of the season in the World Cup singles was fourth in Cavalese over 10 km freestyle and in Rybinsk in 15 km mass start race. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2007 in Sapporo , she finished 18th in the skiathlon, 11th place over 10 km freestyle and seventh place with the relay. In the 2007/08 season she came in the points 16 times in the World Cup, including four times in the top ten. She finished the 2007/08 Tour de Ski in 24th place. In January 2008 she won the second place in the world cup in Canmore in the skiathlon and the 10 km freestyle. In March 2008 she became the Russian champion in the pursuit and at the end of the season reached the 24th place in the overall World Cup and 19th place in the Distance World Cup. After two top ten results in the World Cup singles at the beginning of the following season, she achieved 18th place at the Tour de Ski 2008/09 . This was followed by two more top ten placements and 17th place at the World Cup finals in Falun. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she won the silver medal in the 30 km mass start race. She also achieved 12th place in the skiathlon. She finished the season in 20th place in the overall World Cup and in 16th place in the Distance World Cup. In her last active season, 2009/10 , she came in the top ten four times in the World Cup. At the Tour de Ski 2009/10 she finished 11th. She was third in the final stage. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she achieved 39th place in the skiathlon and seventh place over 10 km freestyle and with the relay. At the end of the season she reached 25th place in the overall World Cup and 18th place in the Distance World Cup.
