List of Olympic medalists from Luxembourg
The Luxembourg Olympic Committee COSL was admitted to the International Olympic Committee in 1912 .
Medals balance
Luxembourg athletes have been taking part in the Olympic Games since 1900 . Four athletes were able to win five Olympic medals (two gold, three silver).
Michel Théato , 1900 Olympic marathon champion , appeared in the results lists as a French for a long time. It wasn't until the end of the 20th century that it was discovered that he actually came from Luxembourg. Officially, his victory is still listed in the French medal table, although there are repeated voices in Luxembourg demanding that his victory be added to the Luxembourg medal table.
In addition to the Olympic sports competitions, there were also the Olympic art competitions until 1948 , in which two Luxembourg artists won three medals (two golds, one silver). The medals of the art competitions are traditionally neither listed in the medal tables of the respective Olympiad nor in the national medal tables.
