The list of Olympic medalists from Italy lists all athletes from Italy who were able to win a medal at the Olympic Games . So far, Italian athletes have won a total of 701 Olympic medals (246 gold, 214 silver and 241 bronze).
The Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano was founded in 1908 and was accepted by the International Olympic Committee seven years later . Italy took part in all games except the 1904 summer games.
