The archer Hubert Van Innis is the most successful Olympic competitor in Belgium.

Belgium took part in the Olympic Games for the first time in 1900 . In 1920 the 6th Olympic Games were held in Antwerp , Belgium.

The first Belgian Olympic champion was archer Hubert Van Innis in 1900 , who with six gold medals and three silver medals is also the most successful Olympic participant in Belgium. The seven archers who, together with Hubert Van Innis, formed the Belgian team in shooting at moving bird targets in 1920, each won two gold medals and one bronze medal. Between Van Innis and his teammates, the fencer Paul Anspach placed himself in the list of the most successful Belgian athletes with two gold and silver medals and one bronze medal.

The Belgian Olympic team did best at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, with the two events in Paris in second and third place. The figure skating couple Micheline Lannoy and Pierre Baugniet won the only gold medal at the Winter Games in St. Moritz in 1948.

So far, the athletes from Belgium have won 154 Olympic medals (41 gold, 55 silver and 58 bronze). This statistic does not include medals in art competitions .
