Félix Albert Graf Goblet d'Alviella (born May 26, 1884 in Ixelles , † February 7, 1957 in Brussels ) was a Belgian fencer , lawyer , sports official and journalist .

Life

Félix Goblet d'Alviella took part in two Olympic Games : in 1920 in Antwerp he was eliminated from the individual competition with the saber in the semi-finals, while he reached the finals with the sword and finished in tenth place. He also moved into the final round with the epee team, in which they only had to admit defeat to Italy . Together with Paul Anspach , Victor Boin , Joseph De Craecker , Ernest Gevers , Philippe Le Hardy de Beaulieu , Fernand de Montigny , Léon Tom and Maurice de Wée , Goblet d'Alviella won the silver medal. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 he did not get past the quarter-finals with the saber team.

He was a lawyer and editor at Revue de Belgique . In addition, Goblet d'Alviella, who was president of the Societe forestière de Belgique , wrote several books on forest science. After the Second World War he was president of the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique from 1946 to 1956 . Politically, he was active at the local level. Goblet d'Alviella was married and held the title of Comte . His father Eugène was a politician and professor of history at the Université libre de Bruxelles , his son Jean was also a politician and later mayor of Court-Saint-Etienne .
