Root Jesse window in Beignon

The Wurzel-Jesse window in the Catholic Church of St-Pierre in Beignon , a French commune in the Morbihan department in the Brittany region , was created between 1535 and 1567. The stained glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique in 1912 .

The window in the choir was created by an unknown workshop. It shows the root of Jesse , a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is represented in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse .

Around 1860 the window was restored by E. Chappe's studio in Nantes .

In addition to the Wurzel-Jesse window , the Passion window from the Renaissance period is still preserved in the church.
