Gustave Léonard Daghelinckx (born April 10, 1900 in Borgerhout , Antwerp ; † March 3, 1986 ibid) was a Belgian track cyclist .
Between 1920 and 1924 Léonard Daghelinx was three times Belgian champion in the amateur sprint . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: in 1920 in Antwerp he started in sprint and tandem races (with John Verhoeven ). In both disciplines he was eliminated in advance.
In 1924 in Paris , Daghelinckx won the bronze medal with the Belgian four-wheeler ( Rik Hoevenaers , Fernand Saivé , Jean Van den Bosch ). In the semifinals, the Belgian team lost to the Italian team, which had won the team pursuit four years earlier. There were two runs: In the first run Italy won against Belgium, but since one of the Belgian drivers had driven with a flat tire since the first lap , the jury decided to repeat the run. But the favored team from Italy also won this second run. Daghelinckx also started in the 50-kilometer scratch race , which he did not finish.
After finishing his cycling career, Daghelinckx opened a butcher's shop in Borgerhout. He also founded an import business for horse meat .
