Jean Patou (cyclist)

Jean Patou (born December 28, 1878 in Brussels , † December 31, 1914 ) was a Belgian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Patou was Belgian champion in the sprint of the amateurs in 1911. In 1903 and 1909 he was runner-up, in 1907 he won the bronze medal. In 1908 and 1912 he was a participant in the Summer Olympics . In 1908 he started in track cycling in the disciplines of tandem racing and sprint (here he was eliminated against the later Olympic champion Victor Johnson ), in 1912 he was eliminated in road racing . His best result in road races was second place in the amateur race Paris – Brussels in 1906, where he won a stage. He also started in standing races , where he was Belgian runner-up in 1904.
