Emile Gosselin

Emile Gosselin (born November 17, 1921 in Leuven ; † March 13, 1982 in Ostend ) was a Belgian track cyclist .

From 1938 to 1941 Emile Gosselin was three times Belgian sprint champion as an amateur and as an "independent" (not a member of any association). In 1941 he became a professional and subsequently won the Belgian sprint championship title seven times, but was overshadowed by his successful compatriot Jef Scherens , who was seven times world champion in this discipline. In 1943 and 1945 Gosselin also won the last two events of the renowned French sprint tournament Grand Prix de l'UVF ; In 1951 he also took second place at the Grand Prix du Roi in Belgium, behind the Australian Sid Patterson , and in 1942 he won the Grand Prix Bordeaux .

In 1956 Gosselin resigned from cycling and opened a restaurant in Ostend, which he ran until his death.
