Jan De Bie

Jan De Bie (born May 9, 1892 in Uccle / Ukkel , Brussels-Capital Region , † April 30, 1961 , other spellings Jean De Bie , Jean Debie or Jan Debie ) was a Belgian football goalkeeper . He won the gold medal with the Belgian national team at the Olympic football tournament in 1920 .

Jean De Bie spent most of his career at Racing Club de Bruxelles , ending his active career in 1934.

With the Belgian national football team De Bie took part in three Olympic tournaments. The great triumph at the Olympic Games in their own country was followed by two not so successful participations. In 1924 they failed in the opening game against Sweden with 1: 8, in 1928 they could not hold their own after a 5: 3 victory over Luxembourg against Argentina and lost 3: 6 to the later finalists. In 1930 De Bie was part of the Belgian team for the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay. However, he was not used at the tournament and was only reserve keeper behind the 17 years younger Arnold Badjou . Between his Olympic debut in 1920 and his last international match against Portugal in June 1930, De Bie completed a total of 33 international matches for the red devils .
