Rodolphe Poma

Rodolphe Joseph Poma (born June 26, 1884 in Pittem ; † 1954 ) was a Belgian rower who was second in the Olympics in 1908 and won three European championships.

Rodolphe Poma rowed for the Koninklijke Roeivereniging Club Gent . This club placed eighth several times , who represented Belgium at the European Championships . From 1897 to 1910 the Belgian eight won the title at the European championships twelve times, the French boat only won in 1905 and 1909. Rodolphe Poma was in the victorious boat in 1906 , 1907 and 1908 . In the four with helmsman , he took second place in 1908 and 1909 .

At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 , two boats competed against each other in the finals of the four boat classes. The Ghent eight with Rodolphe Poma was the only foreign boat to reach a final with a victory over the boat of the University of Cambridge and was there defeated by the crew from the Leander Club .
