Eric Wauters

Eric Wauters in 1981

Eric Wauters (born May 12, 1951 in Mechlin, Antwerp ; † October 21, 1999 in Peulis , Antwerp ) was a Belgian show jumper.

He started at three Olympic Games: 1972 in Munich , 1976 in Montréal and 1996 in Atlanta . At the games in Montréal , he won the bronze medal with the team in the saddle of Gute Sitte .

Wauters trained, among others, Philippe Le Jeune .

His daughter is engaged to the German show jumper Daniel Deußer . In Memoriam Eric Wauters, the Belgian world cup show jumping tournament will be held in Mechelen .

Successes at the Olympic Games

  • 1972, Munich : with Markies 11th place with the team and 49th place in the individual ranking
  • 1976, Montréal / Bromont : with Gute Sitte 3rd place with the team and 43rd place in the individual ranking
  • 1996, Atlanta : with Bon Ami 13th place with the team and 67th place in the individual ranking
