Klaus Dibiasi (born October 6, 1947 in Hall in Tirol , Austria ) is a former Italian art and high diver .

biography

At the age of three he was trained by his father Karl Dibiasi . This, even a good diver, took for the Italian team at the Olympic Games in 1936 in Berlin part and won several Italian masters; after the option , this swimming master was in the outdoor pool of Hall and Austrian master in diving.

Klaus Dibiasi later lived in Bolzano ( South Tyrol ) and competed in Italy. At the opening ceremony for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Klaus Dibiasi was the flag bearer of the Italian team. To date, he is the only Italian Olympic champion in diving. In addition to Valentina Vezzali , Klaus Dibiasi is also the only athlete in Italy who has won gold three times in the same individual discipline; and so far the only high diver in the world to have won gold three times in a row. As one of the most successful Olympic athletes in Italy, he was honored as the flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .

Between 1977 and 1988 Klaus Dibiasi was the Italian national coach of the high diver and technical director of the jump athletes. By 1996 Dibiasi had trained all Italian Olympic diving and high diving teams. In 1981 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .

Today Klaus Dibiasi lives with his family in Rome and works as a trainer and sports official.

In addition, Dibiasi is 13 times Italian champion on the tower and 5 times Italian champion on the 3 m board (1963 to 1976), 11 times Italian champion in the hall (between 1966 and 1975) and 7 times European Cup winner (between 1965 and 1975).
