Tian Liang ( Chinese  田 亮 , Pinyin Tián Liàng ; born August 26, 1979 in Chongqing ) is a former Chinese diver and current actor.

Career

Sports

At the age of eight he was accepted into the Chongqing Sports School in 1987 and was part of the provincial selection in the same year. In 1993 he was accepted into the national team. In 1994 he was able to win his first title at the Chinese championships in diving. At the 1996 Summer Olympics he took part in diving for the first time and reached 4th place. With that he narrowly missed the medal ranks. At the 1998 World Championships in Perth , he won the gold medal in synchronized diving from the 10-meter tower and the silver medal in high diving. Two years later he was able to win the gold medal in high diving and the silver medal in synchronized high diving at the 2000 Summer Olympics together with Hu Jia . At the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka , he was able to win the gold medal in both disciplines. In 2003, however, he was unable to repeat this success at the World Championships in Barcelona and only won the bronze medal there in both disciplines. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , he and Yang Jinghui once again won the gold medal in synchronized diving and the bronze medal in high diving

On March 25, 2007, Tian Liang announced that he would be retiring from active sports. On July 29, 2008, shortly before the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the resignation from active sport was confirmed by the Chinese Olympic Committee.

After his active career, Tian Liang received more and more offers from the film industry. He has been in front of the camera for the Chinese television series Lei Feng since April , where he plays the leading role of the same name. Tian Liang was also one of the torch-bearers for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Tian Liang has been an actor since the end of his sports career. His first film was Chut sui fu yung (Eng. Fantastic Mermaids ), which was released in 2010. In 2011 he took on the role of Fang Zhencong in Mei li ren sheng ( A Beautiful Life ). In 2013 he had a role in Badges of Fury .

Private

Tian Liang has been married to the winner of the casting show "Super Girl" Ye Yiqian since 2007 . They have two children together.
