Wassili Wassiljewitsch Rotschew ( Russian Василий Васильевич Рочев ; born October 23, 1980 in Syktywkar , ASSR of the Komi , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian cross-country skier . He is the son of cross-country skiers Wassili Pawlowitsch Rotschew and Nina Rotschewa and is married to Julija Tschepalowa .

At the Junior World Championships in 2000 in Štrbské Pleso , Slovakia , he was world champion with the Russian cross-country relay and won the silver medal in the individual race over 30 kilometers. The athlete has been in the World Cup since November 2000 and already celebrated an upscale 13th place in his debut race. This was followed by numerous placings among the top 30 before, as a 22-year-old, he achieved his first World Cup victory in Kuusamo over 15 kilometers in classic technique in 2002.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf , Rotschew won the gold medal in the 1.5 km sprint and bronze with the relay. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he and Iwan Alypow won the bronze medal in the classic team sprint. More medals followed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo where he together with Nikolai Morilow silver in the team sprint and together with Nikolai Pankratov , Alexander Legkow and Yevgeny Dementiev won silver in the relay.
