Jekaterina Sergejewna Iljuchina ( Russian Екатерина Сергеевна Илюхина ; born June 19, 1987 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian snowboarder .

Career

Ilyuchina started in St. Petersburg in December 2003 for the first time in the European Cup and took fourth place in the parallel slalom. In March 2004 she completed her first World Cup in Bardonecchia and achieved 32nd place in snowboard cross. In December 2004 she won her first European Cup victories in the parallel slalom in St. Petersburg. At the Snowboard World Championships 2005 in Whistler she came 54th place in parallel slalom, 42nd place in parallel giant slalom and 38th place in snowboard cross. In the 2005/06 season she achieved four top ten placements, including a first place, seventh place in the parallel ranking of the European Cup and in the following season with two second and five first places first place in the parallel ranking of the European Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2007 in Arosa , she achieved 25th place in the parallel slalom. At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Bardonecchia, she was eighth in the giant slalom. In March 2007 she won the bronze medal in the parallel slalom at the Junior World Championships in Bad Gastein . In addition, she won sixth place in the parallel giant slalom. At the Snowboard World Championships 2009 in Gangwon , she finished 36th in the parallel giant slalom and 23rd in the parallel slalom. After two victories in the European Cup at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, she achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup in January 2010 in Nendaz with fourth place in the parallel giant slalom. In the further course of the season she came under the top ten in the World Cup three times and thus took 25th place in the overall World Cup and 14th place in the Parallel World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom behind Nicolien Sauerbreij .

At the beginning of the 2010/11 season Ilyuchina reached Limone Piemonte , after eighth place in the parallel slalom in Landgraaf , with third place in the parallel slalom , her first podium finish in the World Cup. This was followed by results outside of the top ten and at the end of the season, as in the previous year, 14th place in the Parallel World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina she achieved 19th place in the parallel giant slalom and 11th place in the parallel slalom. In the 2011/12 season she finished 19th and in the 2012/13 season 22nd place in the Parallel World Cup. Her best individual result was eighth place. At the Snowboard World Championships 2013 in Stoneham she finished 22nd in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2013/14 season she came in six World Cup starts, four times in the top ten and thus reached 11th place in the Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup, ninth place in the Parallel World Cup and eighth place in the Parallel Slalom World Cup. At the season highlight of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished 29th in the parallel slalom and 12th in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons she came under the top ten once and achieved 22nd and 19th place in the Parallel World Cup.

Ilyuchina has taken part in 99 World Cups so far and has placed in the top ten 15 times. (As of December 17, 2017)
