Schuplezow made his debut in the World Cup in January 1990 and won 26th place in the ballet competition in Mont Gabriel . In the same month he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup in the combination in Lake Placid with third place. This was followed by fifth place in the combination in La Clusaz and sixth in the combination world cup at the end of the season. At the beginning of the 1990/91 season he won his first World Cup victory in the combination in La Plagne . In the further course of the season he took second place in the combination in Tignes and in the Moguls competition in Pyhätunturi and thus reached seventh place in the combined World Cup. At the season highlight, the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 1991 in Lake Placid, he won the gold medal in the combination. He also achieved 23rd place in Aerias, 14th place in ballet and fourth place in Moguls. In the following season he finished in the top ten four times in the World Cup, including third place in the combination in Altenmarkt im Pongau and at the end of the season he reached sixth place in the combination world cup. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he finished 12th in the Moguls. In the 1992/93 season he came on the podium in all combination World Cups. He won two World Cups and also came second twice and third once. At the season highlight, the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 1993 in Altenmarkt im Pongau, he won the gold medal in combination. He also finished 27th in Aerials, 17th in Ballet and eighth in Moguls. He finished the season in fourth place in the Combination World Cup. In the 1993/94 season he reached 13 podiums in the World Cup, including twice third and seven times second. He won in Blackcomb and in Meiringen in the Moguls and also won in Meiringen in the combination. At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , he won the silver medal in the Moguls. At the end of the season he took second place in the Moguls and Combination World Cups and first place in the overall World Cup. In the 1994/95 season he took part in the World Cup only in Moguls competitions. He won six times and took second place twice, winning the Moguls World Cup. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in La Clusaz in 1995 , he won the bronze medal in the Moguls competition. In the overall World Cup he was sixth. In July 1995 Schuplezow died in La Clusaz after a motorcycle accident.
