Alexander Anatoljewitsch Butko ( Russian Александр Анатольевич Бутько , English transcription: Alexander Butko ; born March 18, 1986 in Hrodna ) is a Russian volleyball player .

Career

Butko started his career in 2001 with the Belarusian association Kommunalnik Hrodna . In 2003 the setter moved to the Russian league for VK Dynamo Moscow . He also played for Luch Moscow in the capital before joining VK Iskra Odintsovo . From there he moved to his current club VK Lokomotiv Novosibirsk . With Dynamo Moscow, Odintsovo and Novosibirsk Butko was each runner-up. In 2009 he made his debut for the Russian national team in the world league match against Cuba . In 2012 he won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in London .
