Lioubov Sokolova ( Russian Любовь Владимировна Соколова-Шашкова , English transcription: Lyubov Vladimirovna Sokolova Chachkova ; * 4. December 1977 in Moscow as Lyubov Sokolova ) is a Russian volleyball player . She took part in five Olympic Games and won silver twice. In addition, she was twice world and European champion. With her clubs she collected championship titles and cup victories in several countries.
Career
Sokolowa-Schaschkowa began her career in 1992 at VK CSKA Moscow . After playing a season with Rossy Moscow, she made her debut in 1996 with the Russian national team , with which she finished third in the Grand Prix . In Atlanta she took part in the Olympic Games for the first time and finished fourth. In 1997/98 the universal player was under contract with HAOK Mladost Zagreb . With Russia she reached the final of the Grand Prix and third place at the 1998 World Cup . She then went to Japan to join Hitachi Rival for a year . In 1999 Sokolowa-Schaschkowa won the Grand Prix with the national team and then the 1999 European Championship by beating Croatia in the final . After these successes she returned home and became Russian champion with VK Uralotschka-NTMK . After another second place in the Grand Prix , she reached the final against Cuba with the Russians at the 2000 Olympic tournament in Sydney and won the silver medal.
In the following season, Sokolowa-Schaschkowa managed the national double of cup victory and championship with the Turkish club Eczacıbaşı Istanbul . With Russia she managed to defend her title at the 2001 European Championship , this time in the final against Italy . In 2002 she moved to the Italian league for Foppapedretti Bergamo . In 2004 she won the national championship and the CEV Cup with Bergamo . In their third participation in the Olympic Games in 2004, Russia missed victory in the final for the second time in a row, so that it was again a silver medal. The next season in Bergamo ended with a cup win and the Champions League in the Italian final against Asystel Volley Novara . Then the universal player moved within the league to Monte Schiavo Jesi . With the national team, she reached second place in the Grand Prix in 2006 . In Japan she became world champion for the first time with a 3-2 win against Brazil . In 2007 she achieved the double with the Spanish club CAV Murcia in 2005 and also the success in the Top Teams Cup against her former club CSKA Moscow. Russia had to be content with third place at the European Championship in the same year . Sokolowa-Schaschkowa returned to the domestic league. Her new club VK Saretschje Odinzowo was cup winners and champions in 2008 and was also in the final of the Champions League against Colussi Perugia . In her fourth Olympic tournament , the universal player reached the quarter-finals with Russia and thus fifth place.
In 2009 she said goodbye to Odintsovo as the Russian runner-up and went to Italy for one season at Monte Schiavo Jesi. At the 2010 World Cup , she defended the title with the national team by beating Brazil 3-2. She then moved to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In the first season she was with Fenerbahçe Turkish champion and third in the Champions League . A year later, Istanbul won the Champions League final against RC Cannes . In London, Sokolowa-Schaschkowa took part in the Olympic Games for the fifth time and was fifth again after losing to Brazil in the quarter-finals. After the tournament she plays in the league for Eczacıbaşı Istanbul.
Private
During her time in Istanbul, Sokolowa-Schaschkowa married the Turkish volleyball player Aytaç Kılıç . That is why she has both Russian and Turkish citizenship. She has a son from her first marriage.
